Individual Psychotherapy
Individuals seem to require flexibility in their treatment depending on their personality style and specific concerns. My years of experience allow me to adapt my treatment to each individual based on their own needs and issues. Thus, treatment is efficient and effective. I have been working with individuals for over 15 years to support their development of a more positive and confident sense of self. Additionally, I can help create and develop coping skills to deal with emotional challenges related to stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms.
Individuals often times cope ineffectively with the challenges of everyday life, work, and family, by creating negative thoughts. These negative thoughts cause many individuals to dwell on problems rather than generating solutions. It is my goal to work with you to diminish, and ultimately eliminate, the negative thoughts and move you toward powerful, realistic solutions that will stay with you for a lifetime.
It would be my pleasure to discuss your particular issue and support you in seeking out the appropriate treatment. Please call me at 714.847.8022 I look forward to speaking with you.
Couple Psychotherapy
How a couple communicates is an important consideration when couples seek to reduce conflict and increase interpersonal emotional intimacy. Whether the relationship is new or long term, many couples can develop a new appreciation for their partner as they explore shared values and shared dreams and discover each other from a whole new perspective.
The process of re-energizing a relationship that has lost it's emotional, spiritual, and sexual passion can feel daunting. Most often the energy required to rekindle and rediscover the feelings that brought a couple together has been dissipated by everyday struggles. Often, little time is set aside for development and discovery of a partner's needs and desires. Change begins with the commitment to reevaluate ourselves and how we incorporate and prioritize our intimate relationship into our everyday experience. Fully understanding the needs of our partner is developed once the relationship becomes primary in our lives and is no longer an afterthought. The time to enhance your relationship is now.
I look forward to having the opportunity to support you and your partner in this life enhancing journey. It is my aim to help you bridge the emotional gap and discover newfound respect and love in the process of uniting you and your partner.

Family Psychotherapy
Families are complex and require a unique understanding of the intricate interplay of individual needs as they compete with the needs of the family. Identifying roles and learning to respect individual differences is at the core of creating supportive unity within the family and helping to decrease conflict and stressful interactions.
An important aspect of working with families is understanding how different members present different needs and have different agendas. Important to the successful treatment of families is the ability to express care and concern for one another. This positive step, allows members of the family to discover how working together as a "team," meets each individual's needs and the family achieves it's goal of stability, supportive communication and mutual respect.

Adolescent Psychotherapy
The challenges of parenting an adolescent seemingly becomes more difficult as our society "hurries" young minds in "grown-up" bodies to become adults. The ability to understand and communicate with adolescents tends to be frustrating for parents and can lead to hurt, disappointment, and anger. Understanding the behavior of an adolescent is vital for developing trust and a bond between parents and their teenagers. Adolescence is a difficult and challenging process of biological and emotional instability. It also can be very rewarding, provided parents understand the ever-changing needs of the adolescent during these trying times.
Psychotherapy with adolescents requires balance between accepting the teenager's "differences" and the need to incorporate family values and society's rules. I provide parents with understanding and support to deal with the very important developmental stage known as "individuation and separation." This process is at the heart of the hurt and disappointment experienced by some parents who are challenged by their teenager's hurtful behavior and struggle for independence.
The opportunity to support parents in uncovering the emerging adult amidst the storm of adolescence is a very rewarding process. As important as it is for parents to understand adolescent behavior, it is equally important for the teenager to be educated about parental responsibilities.

Child Psychotherapy
Developing insight and understanding into children can be an exciting discovery and yet a challenging task. Sometimes parents need support and advice to make subtle changes to best manage a child's behavior. At other times, it is the lack of experience as a parent that triggers a child's negative responses. Providing therapy for children is about understanding their "emotional language." Empowering parents to successfully manage their emotions during behavioral interventions with children is an important process for the healthy development of the child.
While children can suffer from a variety of emotional disturbances, it is important to explore issues by evaluating three basic areas where children are frequently challenged. First, it is important to explore the family dynamics and how changes in the family dynamics may be influencing the child. Second, is to understand development and when and how a child achieved developmental milestones. And third, is to consider his/her social skills and their responses to social situations, especially in the areas of "play" with peers and siblings. These areas of development provide us with clues into the child's world and their ability to deal with anxiety and stress.
As children reach school age, classroom issues can evolve. The concerns range from their level of academic abilities, to their social development. Many children develop these skills and abilities over time. It is important to put social and academic issues in the context of family dynamics, developmental history, and social interaction in play settings.
As a Psych Advisor with over fifteen years of experience evaluating children and supporting families, it is my goal to identify problems and determine the proper course of treatment in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
